With respectful curiosity, encouragement, compassion, and a warm spirit, I help people recognize and enhance their strengths to:
- resolve discomfort
- regain balance
- develop healthy and effective coping strategies
- determine and achieve their life goals
- gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their situation
- adjust to daily challenges and life transitions
My counseling approach is comprehensive and individually tailored and complimented by the following key points:
- My services are covered by extended health coverage
- I am a trained EMDR therapist. EMDR utilizes bilateral stimulation to allow clients to adequately process past experiences alleviating distress. EMDR is most commonly used with clients that have experienced past trauma or need assistance with their pain management.
- I am experienced in play and art therapy. I have a playroom filled with toys and crafts for my younger clientele.
- I am a trained Adlerian couples and family therapist. An Adlerian therapist works to unlock the interactional and multi-generational patterns, and reorient the family. I focus on how current family relationships contribute to the development and maintenance of group, or individual symptoms.
- I undergo weekly supervision with a group of counsellors and psychologists. Supervision provides me with a wealth of resources to provide my clients with the best possible treatment. I also engage in ongoing professional development through workshops, conferences, and courses.
- I am an experienced group facilitator. I have led various parenting workshops, mother’s groups, children’s groups, and women empowerment groups.
My work reflects my values of equality, respect, encouragement, and integrity. I focus on self-worth, responsibility and well-being. I believe each person is capable of making choices, contributing to self and others, and cooperating in creative and courageous ways. The relationship I work to build with my clients is designed to build awareness of patterns, help identify options and encourage healthy change for individuals, couples and families. I am committed to supporting children, adolescents, and adults to become stronger people enabling them to build stronger families and ultimately stronger communities.
I have a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology.
