John-David “JD” Kato practices both a chiropractor and clinical exercise physiologist at the Rosedale Natural Health Clinic in Toronto.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of British Columbia before graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic West at the top of his class. He was awarded many honours in recognition of his academic and clinical achievements in chiropractic college including the Alumni Association Scholarship for Clinical Excellence and being chosen as class valedictorian. He was selected for the prestigious teaching fellowship at the New York Chiropractic College where he taught in many of the clinical courses in the chiropractic curriculum. During this time he completed his master’s degree at Ithaca College in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Exercise Physiology. His thesis involved the effects of exercise on blood pressure in cardiac patients.

JD has obtained the highest-level certifications of the American College of Sports Medicine: Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP), and the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology: Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP).

As a chiropractor he utilizes hands-on care and rehabilitation exercise to improve biomechanics and movement impairments of the spine, shoulders and legs. This combination increases treatment effectiveness and promotes the body’s natural healing. Other therapies include soft tissue therapies, physical therapy modalities (ultrasound, etc), nutrition, ergonomics and education (lifestyle recommendations, ergonomics, etc).

As a clinical exercise physiologist he works with a variety of people from those who what to improve in sports and training to those with medical conditions who want to improve health. He performs detailed assessments and reviews the client’s exercise & medical histories to help guide clients to achieve health and fitness goals.

JD’s interests include cardiovascular health, biomechanics for injury prevention, exercise for older adults and walking/running for fitness. He regularly gives educational presentations to different groups on a wide variety of topics including chiropractic, aerobic exercise, weight training, injury prevention, low back pain, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and general health.
